New Planning Act and Development Assessment Rules to start on 3 July 2017
From 3 July 2017, the development assessment and approval process in Queensland will operate under new planning legislation.
New Development Assessment Rules (DA Rules) have just been finalised that identify new procedures and timeframes for the lodgement and assessment of development applications from 3 July 2017.
Over the next few months we will continue to review the new rules in detail and answer any questions that you may have. We understand that Councils and Referral agencies are also preparing for the new system. From past experience, we expect there to be a few teething problems that could result in delays in lodgement processing and approval timeframes.
Prior to 3 July 2017, development applications will continue to be lodged and assessed under the current system. If you are preparing a new development application, we recommend that you lodge and pay for your application well before June 30 to avoid potential delays while the new system gets started.
